Post Fractures

When you fracture a bone it is immobilised for most commonly 6-8 weeks. After this time scale, the joints that were immobile will most likely be very stiff. In addition to this, muscles would have become weaker and shorter, and skin will be quite sensitive to touch. These are the main aspects that we look at for your rehabilitation programme. We also offer advice on timescales of bone and soft tissue healing processes. It is important to know that a fracture not only injures the bone, but also other structures such as tendons, ligaments, muscles and nerves.
Therefore physiotherapy is essential in assisting the healing process of these structures, and ensuring you get back to full function.
